Wander around the world and you'll run into NPCs handing out Trials: project briefs built around hardware, game dev, web apps or systems work.

Taking on a trial

Walk up to any NPC with a quest icon and talk to them to read the brief. Accept it and it binds to your builder terminal.

Each trial tells you what to build, suggests a stack, sets a minimum number of hours, and names its reward, which might be hardware, a gaming perk or a grant of some kind.

Trials vs. inventions

A trial is someone else's prompt with a specific prize attached, plus 100 bonus RE when you finish it.

An invention is whatever you want. If your idea doesn't match any NPC's brief, make it an invention instead. Inventions pay full pixel rates on your tracked hours, they just don't come with a prize.

You can have a trial and an invention going at the same time.
